My patchfinder.exe 10.1.1.2 doesn't seem to find any valid installation of ArcGIS Desktop now that I upgraded to AGD 10.2. Is there any update for the patchfinder utility?

Crash when installing Arcgis 10.2

I had to install Arcgis 10.2 for one computer in 32 bits; I have accessed the esri.exe to run the installation on a share folder (install in a server).

Unfortunately somebody used the same esri.exe installer as me, and both computers crashed and the screen get blue and computer switch off and restart every 5 minutes alone.

We made some restore for windows system but it didn’t work we had to reinstall windows 7 pack 1 64 bits.

Somebody face such kind of problem after accessing the same .exe on a share folder.

Both computers fit Esri requirement with Intel graphic card / OS windows 7 pack 1, 32 and 64 bits.

But still I cannot explain such kind of bug (when you have a blue screen sometime is due to a problem with a driver,….)
Any idea or experience,

All the best, Fred

VMWare - ESRIRegistrationMgr: 16:38:15: Fatal error: Could not load ArcGISVersion

Hello, I'm running an application that utilizes ArcGIS Engine Runtime 10.1 SP1, and the application was running perfectly for about a week and a half, including while I'm out of town. I get back to the office this past Monday and the application won't run anymore. Uninstall, reinstall, and now during the ArcGIS Engine Runtime installation, with 4 min remaining, the progress bar isn't yet halfway, I get an error pop up:

ESRIRegistrationMgr: 16:38:15: Fatal error: Could not load ArcGISVersion

Click OK and it continues "Writing system registry values", but then later during the installation with 6 seconds left the same error appears (but the timestamp is later, of course). Then the splashscreen comes up announcing a successful installation.

I'm on VMWare Player 6.1, Win7(64-bit).

Unfortunately I've uninstalled & installed so much this week that all of the restore points are from this week.
I've turned off Windows Defender, Windows Firewall is off, no other security software installed.
On that Friday (12/6) there were 133 windows updates that tried to install (4 or 5 of them failed), so today I uninstalled all of them one-by-one. There were two that it didn't allow me to uninstall.
Checked OpenGL within the virtual environment, I'm at "2.1 Mesa 8".
Installed MSXML 4.0 SP3 Parser & uninstalled MSXML 4.0 SP2 (there were two, one per KB#)
Installed Java 7 Update 45 (64-bit)
Added the RegistrySizeLimit key.

Just noticed ArcGIS Administrator is empty; just the name of the VM machine at the top, no "Engine" or "Support Operations" underneath.

Any ideas what might be going on???
Could it have not liked that I was a timezone away last week??
Totally at a loss. I can scrap the VM, but I'd REALLY like to know what the problem is just in case I run into it again.

Thanks in advance!

Business Analyst License Silent Install

I am working on packaging ArcGIS 10.2 + Business Analyst for silent deployment to our student computing labs. Everything appears to be working properly but I cannot find a way to silently license Business Analyst; the documentation only references manually installing the license.

I found that the license can be installed from the command line using "C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\ArcGIS\bin\ArcGISAdmin.exe" /LIF "<license file path>", but this is not truly silent as it opens ArcGIS Administrator after installing the license.

I did find a reference on the old forums (http://forums.esri.com/forums.asp?c=154) saying this was possible, but this was for 10.0 and it appears things have changed significantly since then. Placing the sdlic file in the folder mentioned does not appear to work.

Is there any way to actually silently install the license for Business Analyst?

Auto-enable an extension

Hello,

I am creating a utility which automates the installation of ArcGIS for Desktop 10.1 for all users in our organization. All users are licensed for the TreeWorks extension, so I would like the utility to auto-enable it. I can enable the TreeWorks toolbar using a default Normal.mxt file, but this doesn't actually enable the extension. Is there another way to enable it besides Customize > Extensions and checking it off? Is there another config file or registry entry available?

Thanks,
Wayne

10.1 License service disabled

We have tried to upgrade the license server from ArcGIS10.0 to ArcGIS10.1. The trouble started here where it asked for the authorization file which we don’t possess for 10.1. Then we have decided to roll back to ArcGIS10.0 where it has not happened. The license is disabled. Please guide us how to enable.

Arc GIS 10.2 Installation on windows 8.1

Hi all,

I am having problems installing 10.2 on my desktop, and I was wondering if anyone has had any issues with this. I have used Arc 10 and 10.1 on my machine with Windows 8 in the past with no issues. However I have recently updated to windows 8.1.

I am attempting to install and use the 60 day free trial. I have downloaded using the download manager the Application file, however when I run that I get the following error

"Unable to create file ArcGIS10.2\Desktop\Documentation\EULA\pdf"

It then goes onto state "Installation Files successfully extracted" yet the launch program does not open and the newly created ArcGIS 10.2 folder does not contain any installation files.

I have repeated this process 3 times with the same error.

Has anyone else experienced this problem and can advise on how to solve this?

Any help much appreciated.

Regards

Nick

Advanced License is always the default

Hi

We have a floating "Concurrent" license usage in our job.

We have two groups in our work, a large group that all of its members are using "Standard" license, and their machine are setup with the "ArcGIS administrator" to use Standard License from floating license server.
and there a "master" group that use Advanced.

There is a specific machine from the Standard group, that always using Advanced , even it is configured to use Standard.
There are no any extensions installed on that machine
and I checked the toolbars, and no commands added to the toolbar that use advanced license.

how this is happening?
and if all advanced licenses are talken, that machine will use automatically the standard, without any notification to the user.

I need for sure that this machine to use only standard and not advanced.

Thanks

I've just installed arc 10.2 on a fresh install of windows 7 x64 and cant run any of the ArcGIS apps, including the administrator.

This thread (below) is almost exactly what I'm getting except I haven't got a license server. I want to put in a trial key but cant get that far.

ArcMap crash's at Initializing license with the following:

Based on the other thread I can only assume its something to do with licensing but we dont have a licensing server so I don't know what to check.

Just for the hell of it I tried disabling the firewall (built in windows one) and the AV (CA eTrust 8.1) but it didn't help at all

Anyone have any suggestions?

Problem connecting to License Manager 10.2 on VM machine

$

Hello. I am trying to connect to a License Manager 10.2 that has been authorized from an ArcGIS Desktop 10.2 client from a lab in a different building. The LM resides on a VM because our physical server went down. Is it possible to use a VM machine to do this?

I can ping the server from the client but the LM either hangs when I select the IP or it will accept the IP but show no availability. I don't have any ports specified in the service.txt.

What protocols is suggested to diagnose the problem?

Thank you.
M.

Is it possible to manually rename versioned views in ArcGIS 10.2?

$

Hello,

I am in the process of upgrading our GIS system from 9.3 to 10.2. We have tons of views that are created when our datasets are registered as versioned. However, our triggers and many applications reference our multiversioned views in 9.3 with a different suffix appended to the name (_mvv) and I know in 10.2 versioned views are created with the (_evw) suffix.

It would be much easier to rename the versioned views to our old names than to go through all of our triggers and coding to find where the versioned views names need to be updated. I am simply wondering if it is possible to rename the versioned views, and if so, how it can be done.

Many thanks for your input.

Multiple search paths for map templates in 10.1?

$

Hi!
In v10.0, we used a setup for multiple search paths for map templates as per this instruction
To create multiple System template locations, you can modify the following registry key, separating folders with a semicolon (;).
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ESRI\Desktop10.0\ArcMap\Settings\TemplateDir
<install drive>:\Program Files (x86)\ArcGIS\Desktop10.0\MapTemplates;<install drive>:\More System Templates

The purpose of this was to supply users with a common set of templates from a designated location as well as the local standard ones
After upgrading to v10.1 this setup seems no longer possible. The semicolon is not accepted in the path(s) string.
I'd be pleased if someone can confirm that there in fact has been a deliberate change in syntax to disallow multiple paths, or if the separator has been changed.

Do I need to reinstall ArcGIS 10.1 if I upgrade from Windows 7HP to 8 Enterprise?

Just wanted to see if that was necessary. From what I understand, 8.1 won't work with any ArcGIS. If it does, I would like to upgrade to 8.1.

I can get 8 and 8.1 through my school btw.

Following the release of 10.2.1 I've been trying to upgrade a 10.1 (SP1) version. Towards the end of the installation I get the following error message, at which point the entire setup rolls back

Attachment 30516

I had this when trying to directly upgrade 10.1 and then with a clean install. Any ideas?

10.2.1 License Manager not reading OPT file

$

We are testing the new 10.2.1 license manager against 10.0 desktops and are encountering an error where the license manager appears to not be reading the option (OPT) file.

The log lists it as “Rereading options file…” and “…Finished rereading”, but it does not note that we have a few licenses reserved like it did in our 10.0 license manager.

I put the file (ARCGIS.opt) in the installation directory (..\License10.2\bin) did a reread and even a stop/start. Other than this it seems to be serving out licenses correctly.

Any ideas on what might be going on? Thanks in advance.

10.2.1 License Manager does not support Desktop 9.3.1

Just an FYI - contrary to the documentation the newest version of the ArcGIS License Manager 10.2.1 does not appear to support a ArcGIS Desktop 9.3.1 client. Did they take this out because support for 9.3.1 "ended" on December 31, 2013?

The 10.2.0 license manger worked with Desktop 9.3.1, 10.0, and 10.2 clients but not 10.1.
