I need to exclude 1 to 2 extensions from all users as an example hope to exclude all users from borrowing the Data Interop extension.

Any suggestions is appreciated.

ArcMap 10.1 Student edition crash

I was wondering if anyone might be able to point me in the right direction here. ArcMap 10.1 (Desktop Advanced, student edition) keeps crashing when I attempt to use ArcToolbox extensions. It won't even let me send crash reports ("An error occurred with the error report")! I'm running ArcGIS on a VM (Windows 7 guest on an OS X host). Any ideas? I haven't tried reinstalling yet, as I'm not sure that my original EVA number will still work since I've already installed it.

problem with licensing

hi,
I just installed Arcmap 10.2 free trial, I followed all the instructions and then when it came to licensing I put in the code I got but it wouldn't license it and said "licensing failed".
The second time I tried it I got an error message "Authorization denied because request would exceeded max copies for the following authorization number: XXXXXXXX"
so now I don't have access to the software and don't have a working key
what do I do?
thank you.

Arc GIS 10.2 Desktop instructions don't match wizard screens

I did follow the instructions (see below) and now have the software, but the instructions above are not complete and the wizard has 2 extra screens that ask unclear information.

For example I had to register online, which I did with my HOME address. Yet the screen of eth wozard asks for my department and the address. It was not clear do I put my home address (which I did) or my departmental address). I think you need to test this better so that the instructions match what you see for version 10.2.

The instructions here talk about Net 3.5 yet there are 3 later versions of .net on the microsoft site, Why not build the software to work with those versions too? And at the same time update the installation files?

INSTRUCTIONS as sent today:

Dear Marcus Petz,

Please follow the steps below to download and install ArcGIS 10.2 for Desktop.

Uninstall any previous versions of ArcGIS that you may already have on your machine. For best results, please download and use the ArcGIS Uninstall Utility below.
Download ArcGIS for Desktop, Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5, and the other files you would like to install. Please note that ArcGIS Data Interoperability, ArcGIS Data Reviewer, and ArcGIS Workflow Manager require ArcGIS for Desktop.
When downloading with the Esri Download Manager, you can select and download multiple products. However, only one product should be launched at a time when the downloads are complete.
Make sure you have write access to your download directory location as well as your ArcGIS installation directory location, and that no one is accessing it.
Install the Microsoft .Net Framework 3.5 Service Pack 1 below.
Install and authorize ArcGIS for Desktop
Select a destination folder to extract the install files to. If you choose, you can automatically launch the setup after the files have been extracted
When prompted, select ArcGIS for Desktop Advanced Single Use.
When prompted, accept the default, I do not wish to authorize any extensions at this time. The extensions will be authorized automatically.
Enter your authorization number: EVA672873064.

Error 1935 installing ArcGIS 10.2

I am having problems installing ArcGIS 10.2. Every time I try to install I get the following error:

"Error 1935: An error occurred during the installation fo the assembly component. {943B542A-A22E-38EB-885D-52C90B865DDA}. HRESULT: 0x8007054F."

Running Windows 7 Professional 64-bit SP1 on a Sony VGN-FW351J laptop

I have been researching this error on the ArcGIS Resource Forums and the broader internet for the past few days. The best answer I have found is here:

http://forums.arcgis.com/threads/165...-error-1935/#6

I have followed all the steps listed:

1. Added DWORD 0xffffffff to registry
2. SFC /SCANNOW finds no errors
3. Oddly, I cannot install MSXML4 sp3 either... get this error:

"An error occurred during the installation fo the assembly component. {74974F83-779E-3983-D6B9ABF34537}. HRESULT: 0x8007054F."

Note that the HRESULT is the same, just no Error 1935.

4. Results of Stebner's .NET Framework Setup Verification Tool:

.NET Framework 2.0 SP2 - Product Verification Succeeded
.NET Framework 3.0 SP2 - Product Verification Succeeded
.NET Framework 3.5 SP1 - Product Verification Succeeded
.NET Framework 4 Client - Product Verification Succeeded
.NET Framework 4 Full - Product Verification Succeeded
.NET Framework 4.5 - Product Verification Succeeded

So no issues there.

5. Try to install ArcGIS from the ESRI.exe running as Administrator from both a mounted ISO and a DVD result in the same 1935 Error.

I have uninstalled any and all non-required software, including Visual Studio Professional 2005 and 2008, and run CCleaner against the registry and cleaned up all the junk left behind.

Have tried the clean boot option as described here:

http://forums.arcgis.com/threads/919...istry-edit/#10

I have had every version of Arc from 9.2 to 10.1 on this machine with no issues. I've installed 10.2 on the same OS at work with no issues. Running out of ideas. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks...

Student with version 10.1- all sorts of errors

Hello,

I have a student license for ArcGIS version 10.1 and I am also using the 3D analyst extension. I've been consistently having problems with a few tools (using dissolve for a large # of objects fails and causes the program to freeze, trying to use 'add surface information' creates an empty output, etc) and I see that all of my problems were addressed in 10.2 (http://downloads.esri.com/support/do...ressedList.pdf).

I have no customer care account since I have a student version. I don't think I can get version 10.2 now that I have version 10.1. How can I get these tools working?!

"ArcGIS encountered a serious application error" problem

Hi,

I need to perform regression analysis for some data. Whenever I use Ordinary Least Squares (OLS) tool (spatial statistics tools>Modeling spatial relationships>Ordinary Least squares), initially the tool works fine and generates corresponding output. But after generating output, when I close the OLS process window, there appears an error message "arcgis encountered a serious application error and needs to close" and application get closed. I searched this error on google and came to know that this might be due to file permissions. I couldn't figure this out much as data file on my laptop in .csv file format have full access rights. Is there any solution except re-installing the software? I am using ArcGIS v10.1 on windows 8 (64-bit machine).

Need help!

10.2 Trial Offline Installation

$

Hi

I have downloaded and installed the 10.2 trial. I followed the install instructions as per the email that contained my activation code
Quote:

Once the ArcGIS 10.2 for Desktop software download is complete, extract the installation files to a destination folder of your choosing. If you prefer, you can automatically launch the setup after the files have been extracted.
When prompted, select ArcGIS for Desktop Advanced (ArcInfo) Single Use. Click Authorize Now.
On the Authorization Options dialog, check the 'I have installed my software and need to authorize it' option and click Next.
Enter your authorization number: xxxxxxxxx, and click Next.
On the Authorize Software Extensions dialog, select 'I do not want to authorize any extensions at this time' and click Next. (Ten ArcGIS for Desktop extensions are automatically authorized with ArcGIS for Desktop Advanced (ArcInfo) Single Use, and therefore it is not necessary to authorize extensions at this step).
However, during my activation sequence it asks me to activate via internet or email
The machine I am installing it on has no access to the internet. Is there any way I can resolve this?

ArcInfo single user student's license, how to find the authorization code?

$

Hi,

I had installed an ArcInfo single user one year student's license on my laptop. I had done this about two months back. Now, something is wrong with my Windows 7 operating system, and I will have to reinstall the whole operating system. This means that I will lose all my software including ArcGIS. I have three one year evaluation CDs, and all of them are used. I don't remember which one I used for the last installation, and so, I do not know the correct license number too (starting with EVA....). My questions are -

1. Can I reinstall the ArcInfo single user one year student's license on my laptop after reinstalling the Windows 7 again since it has ten months of usage left?

2. Is there a way to know the license number (that is authorization code starting with EVA..) of the Arcinfo which is installed in my computer now? I tried going into ArcGIS administrator but couldn't find it.

Please let me know the answers to these questions. Thanks in advance.

10.2 Home use installation- software riddle with errors and practically useless!

Help! Has anyone had any issues with 10.2 right after installation? I have installed ArcGIS multiple times across the years, but I've never run into the errors this is giving me. It is acting like some poorly debugged software out of somebody's dorm room instead of a smooth user interface that I actually paid money for!

Issues thus far:

ArcMap:
1) Try to open a menu- it automatically selects the first option on the menu list. Try to click on a menu- it refuses to open.
2) Can only look at menus if you open the help menu & then move your mouse across top of screen- the menus appear far away from where they are suppose to
3) the Table of Contents is huge! When the program initially opens, the font is normal, but the moment you choose a temlate, the whole thing blows up & is very difficult to read or navigate
4) You cannot project a shapefile! Lots of errors when that tool is run, or it just sits & spins until the whole program crashes.
5)It crashes. Continually.

ArcCatalog:
1) I cannot import a shapefile into a File Geodatabase! This is driving me nuts, I have lots of shapefiles that I need to convert projections on. I will try to import a shapefile, and after I click "ok" on the tool- the screen goes back to the normal view and does nothing! I open it a day later, I might see half of the things I imported.
2) The program crashes.
3) I try & look at metadata- it takes 5 minutes to display & then it displays at a font closer to 70 pts.

I have installed this software dozens of times and had it open up and work beautifully. I know that the home edition is cheaper, but I expect that it actually work to the extent that the $1500 version does.

Sorry for the frustration, but this is making a project I am working on very difficult.

10.2 Home Use won't authorize

I just purchased ArcGIS 10.2 for home use, installed over 10.1 Basic, and installation appeared to proceed ok. All the programs are there in the Start Menu. When I try to start ArcGIS Administrator (think that's what it's called, at work now) to authorize Arc, a message box pops up asking if I allow it to make changes to the system. Click OK, the pop up disappears and nothing happens. Now I can't use Arc because I can't authorize it. Any ideas? Thanks.

VBA Installation- Desktop Info or Desktop Editor

$

Hello Community,
I currently have ArcGIS Info desktop installed on my work computer with a concurrent use license. I'm trying to install the VBA developer extension (VBA Macros), but once I install SDK.VBA it doesn't populate as a possible extension.

I've heard that I need ArcGIS Editor desktop in order to install VBA capabilities. I thought you could run VBA developer extensions on all Desktop versions of ArcGIS.

Will the VBA Macro tool run in all versions on ArcGIS Deskptop (Viewer, Editor, Info)?

Thank you!

Switch License Manager from 10.1 to 10.2 hidden issues?

$

Hi all,

We run concurrent use licenses across campus for 10.1, with ArcGIS 10.1 License Manager installed on a remote server.

We are getting ready to begin distributing ArcGIS 10.2 but many users will of course retain 10.1 for a while. I understand the 10.2 LM is capable of serving all of those licenses and there is nothing for the user to do.

My questions is, is swapping the LM from 10.1 to 10.2 really as straightforward as the instructions below indicate, or are there any hidden issues I need to be aware of before I risk cutting everyone on campus off from ArcGIS?

Thanks,
David

Upgrading licenses from 10.1 to 10.2

ArcGIS 10.1 licenses will operate with ArcGIS 10.2 and no license upgrade is required. However, any client software operating at version 10.2 must use a 10.2 License Manager. To upgrade ArcGIS 10.1 License Manager to ArcGIS 10.2 License Manager, follow these instructions:

Open the License Server from Start > Programs > ArcGIS > License Manager > License Server Administrator. On UNIX/Linux, you can run License Server Administrator from the installation location using the following command: <installation_path>/arcgis/license10.1/LSAdmin.
Stop the License Service under Start/Stop License service and exit the License Server Administrator.
Install the ArcGIS 10.2 License Manager. The installer will automatically uninstall your ArcGIS 10.1 License Manager and install ArcGIS 10.2 License Manager.
Open the License Server from Start > Programs > ArcGIS > License Manager > License Server Administrator. On UNIX/Linux, you can run License Server Administrator from the installation location using the following command: <installation_path>/arcgis/license10.2/LSAdmin.
Start the License Service under Start/Stop License service and exit the License Server Administrator. ArcGIS 10.2 License Manager is now ready for use.

Windows 8.1 update, now can't open ArcMap

Or globe, or toolbox or catalog. I am a student trying to work on a presentation, finishing off my first semester of my masters in urban planning.

Anywho, I downloaded and was working with the Esri suite (all I use is map and catalog, for now) a bit on my new home computer which came with Windows 8. It forced me to update to 8.1 and now none of my Esri software opens. When I opened up the ArcGIS Administrator after this it said that I had a broken license, which I was able to fix. When I try to open ArcMap again, I get the same message:

ArcMap.exe - Bad Image

C:\Program Files (x86)\ArcGIS\Desktop10.0\Bin\afUILib.dll is either not designed to run on Windows or it contains an error. Try installing the program again using the original installation media or contatct your system administrator or the software vendor for support. Error status 0xc0000020.

This happens with ArcGlobe and any other of the Esri products I try to open. I restarted my computer to no avail. I tried to uninstall but the uninstaller says that it doesn't detect the 10.0 on my computer, so go ahead and install. Needless to say, very frustrating.

Does anyone have any suggestions??? All advice is much appreciated.

Kyle

We have a concurrent license. One lab wants to upgrade their Arcgis Desktop to 10.2 but the other lab which bought the 3D Analyst extension doesn't want to pay maintenance, and want to stay with 10.1.
Will the 3D Analyst extension keep working with the 10.2 license or do we have to pay for the extensions too?
