This is just based on my experience on on machine (Win 7, 64-bit) and is probably not a supported install.
I had ArcGIS (Desktop) 10.1 and ArcInfo Workstation (10.0) installed and working on this machine already. Even though the 102UninstallUtility.exe said I need to uninstall Workstation prior to the 10.2 install, I decided to ignore it and went ahead with the upgrade.
Although it may come back to bite my at some point in the future, everything seems to be working at this point. Workstation recogonized my 10.2 license manager (LM) right off.
Desktop Administrator also was able to see the LM and available licenses right away, but when start up ArcCatalog and/or ArcMap it did not. I borrowed/checkout a license and was able to start up both. I checked the license back in and Catalog and Map both started ok....so the error might have been a fluke. BTW - I use a port for the firewall issues. If you do too, don't forget to update your service.txt in the 10.2 license manager bin folder.
