ArcGIS 10.1 SP1-Keeps crashing please help

Hi,

I am in dire need of assistance. I installed SP1 a few weeks ago with now problems. Over the last few days I cannot use it at all hardly as it keeps crashing. I have tried repairing the installation but to no avail. I have also renamed the normal.mxd template hoping that would sovle it but no dice. A consistent problem I am noticing is that if i have a layer symbolised with particular values at different scales the values change to reflect untrue values. If I then 'zoom to layer' etc the symbology again changes to reflect a completely different set of values. The symbology changes everytime I refresh the document. It usually crashes quite quickly and I cannot even see the globe spinning in the bottom right.

I am in urgent need of help. I have been hoping that after it crashes it will bring up a box to report the problem to ESRI but it has not.

If anybody could offer some insight I would be forever in your debt. It's an ArcView licence I have with a lot of hte extension available.
