Re-install ArcGis or Update License

Dear All,

I have installed ArcGIS (student edition) last year and the license will expire in a week.
Now, I enroll in another GIS course which give me a new ArcGIS CD with one year license.
So, should I uninstall the ArcGIS in my computer and conduct a new installation using my new ArcGIS CD? or
Can I just update my license by inputting the new serial number?
